BIG HOUSE RED
is a container for light and ideas.

We live and work here.

Wakefield, Quebec is a picturesque village in the Gatineau Hills.

It sits on the west bank of the Gatineau River - a wide, swimmable river with a history of logging and lumber mills.

Come see the wooded lot we chose here.

In essence, we were two very lucky newlyweds who got to sit down in a sea of Lego and ask ourselves a luxurious question:

In a perfect world, what kind of space would you want to live in?

The answer was clear: a sea of Lego.

When you build on the Canadian Shield, the rocks have their way with you.

André and his crew of framers just nodded when we showed them the plan for the flying carpet, or "tapis volant".

They picked up their chainsaws and made it appear - walking on inch-and-a-half wide boards, thirty-three feet in the air.

It was Roxy Music who said "Love is the drug", but it was Eric who said, "Air is the insulator".

Aaaah, NOW I understand.

Don't cram the insulation in there… just lightly stuff.

They hunt deer and moose. They play with Lego. They carry chainsaws and balance on tightropes. They make us laugh. They teach us en français. They are our friends and contractors.

These are the Daves we know, we know, these are the Daves we know…

We
love
living
here.

Ta-Daaaa!
